2014 The year it all started
The year it all started. It all came together when Jarl joined a band called Ancestral Legacy, because they were a bassplayer short, and he knew everyone from the band, icluding his very best friend. Short after joining, the band started recording a new album ‘Terminal’. <br>After finishing the album, the band immediately started shipping it to recordlabels, hoping to get a good deal. After all, the record was, and still is, a great record. So it didn’t take long before offers started coming in.
From before the band was used go getting lesser deals, but this was the bands third full-length album and they weren’t gonna settle for just anything. So the band waited a little longer.
When an offer came from a well know recordlabel, the band was exhited. But it didn’t last long. The deal was the same as almost all other deals. “The band gets x-amount of copies, the label take all the royaliy collected and gets all the future rights as well”. After a very short discussion, the deal was politely declined. Jarl pointed out that they could release their selfes.
Eddie, head of the band, weren’t to exhited to do all that work, as this was the 10th release (including ep’s and demo’s) and he didn’t have the time to keep up with that. So Jarl took the task and promised to work hard on it. And that he did.
And along came Witchbreed
To give the records more credibility Jarl started a recordlabel ment just for the release of ‘Terminal’. The name ‘Whispering Voice Records’ seemed like a good name, as the name was taken from a track on the 2002 demo, called Whispering Voices.
The cd was pressed in 1000 copies and sent to every corner of the world. The feedback on the record was great, and other band started to notice it. One of these band was Witchbreed.
Witchbreed signed with WVR for the release of the EP ‘Queen of Storms’ which also came out the same year. And thus, the recordlabel now suddently had 2 bands and 2 records release.
There were a couple of band coming and going after that, and in 2016 the label became dorment for a while. Jarl quit the band after his best friend decided he no longer hadthe time for touring and gigging. The constant travel to rehearsel also took its toll, as it was a 2 hour drive each way.
In 2018 Jarl joined another band called ‘Arvas’, which rehearsed in the same town where he lived. Arvas had just released ‘Equanimity’ and V-Rex had a couple of months beforethat fired all of the bands musisicans. So he needed live musicians for tours and shows .
